Kapok Run occupies a uniquely special location within Miami-Dade County, echoing the character of an ‘old Miami’ landscape that is becoming increasingly rare as long-held agricultural estates transition into more contemporary residential uses. Given the expansive scale of the property, we focused on introducing clarity and structure so that architectural elements and programmatic spaces feel intentional and harmonious. The site plan directs views toward distant focal points defined by garden follies and specimen trees. Local building materials lend a sense of timelessness, further enriched by a predominantly native plant palette. Meandering garden pathways invite visitors to “take the scenic routes,” offering opportunities for discovery, varied experiences, and moments of quiet engagement throughout the garden.
