Our Commitment to Web Accessibility
LandFluent is committed to providing a fully accessible website experience for all users of all abilities, including those who rely on assistive technologies like screen readers, screen enlargement software, and alternative keyboard input devices to navigate the web.
Ongoing Efforts to Ensure Accessibility
We follow the
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 as our guiding principle for determining accessibility. These are internationally agreed-upon standards that cover a wide range of recommendations and best practices for making content usable. As we add new pages and functionality to our website, all designs, code, and content entry practices are checked against these standards.
Website accessibility is an ongoing process. We continually test content and features for WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance and remediate any issues to ensure we meet or exceed the standards. Testing of our website is performed by our team members using industry-standard tools such as the
Accessibility Checker WordPress Plugin, color contrast analyzers, keyboard-only navigation techniques, and Flesch-Kincaid readability tests.
Accessibility Features On Our Website
The following is a list of items we have included in our website to improve its accessibility:
Features Provided by the AccessYes Widget
These are the "on-demand" tools that users can trigger via the widget icon found in the bottom left corner of the screen:
- Contrast Adjustments: Options for High Contrast, Dark Mode, and Light Mode to assist users with visual sensitivities.
- Text & Font Controls:
- Text Resizing: Ability to increase or decrease font sizes without breaking the page layout.
- Dyslexia-Friendly Fonts: A toggle to switch to high-legibility fonts (like OpenDyslexic).
- Spacing Controls: Adjustments for line height and letter spacing to improve readability.
- Visual Aids:
- Reading Guide/Mask: A horizontal line or window that helps users focus on one line of text at a time.
- Big Cursor: An enlarged mouse pointer for better visibility.
- Navigation & Interaction:
- Keyboard Shortcut: The widget can be opened using Option + A (or your custom set key).
- Pause Animations: A tool to stop moving elements or GIFs that might cause seizures or distractions.
- Highlight Links/Titles: Visually emphasizes interactive elements to make them easier to find.
Foundational Accessibility Features
Beyond the widget, we have made the following improvements to the site's code and content to be more accessible to screen readers:
- Keyboard Navigability: All interactive elements (links, buttons, and forms) are accessible via the Tab key, with clear visual focus indicators.
- Alt Text for Images: We provide descriptive alternative text for all functional images to ensure context for screen reader users.
- Form Labels: All form fields are explicitly labeled, and error messages are clear and helpful.
- Text Contrast: We have designed our website's color palette to ensure that text maintains a high contrast ratio against its background, meeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements. This ensures readability for users with low vision or color deficiencies.
Where We're Improving
In our efforts to bring our website up to standard, we are targeting the following areas:
- Some of our pages may contain heading levels that are out of order. We are aware of this issue and are currently dedicating development hours to rectify our heading hierarchy to better support assistive technologies.
This is part of our broader effort to make everyone's experience at LandFluent a welcoming and enjoyable one. Please note that while we make every effort to provide information accessible for all users, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of third party websites to which we may link.
